Can you believe 2011 is almost over?!?

Seems like just yesterday I was ringing in the new year and now we’re at the end of another one.

I know it’s full force holiday fever right now and all you want to be thinking about is parties, presents, and holidays eats…BUT remember that the end of another year is also the end of a tax year.

So if you can step away from your hearty holiday party for a minute there are some things to handle before December 31, 2011 so you can save money on your taxes in 2012.

Tax Reminder for Oct. 17

For all you tax procrastinators like me, here’s your reminder that the Oct. 17 deadline is coming up for those who requested a tax filing extension.

The deadline is two days later this year because Oct. 15 falls on a Saturday. You must file by Oct. 17 if you want to avoid any penalties and added interest.

Here are the deadlines depending on what method you use to file:

Midnight on 10/17/11 if you are filing electronically
Last pickup time at your local post office if you are filing by regular mail

Do you find doing your taxes as painful and boring as Sheeba the kitty kat does?

This time of year I get bombarded with requests to prepare taxes but I actually don’t do other people’s taxes, just my own.
