Stay Away From Glossy Investments

This article is by guest blogger Aequitas Wealth Management.

When buying investments, we should buy them more like we shop for groceries rather than luxury items.

When we buy a fine watch or perfume we are drawn to an image of how we would like to feel or be perceived.

Style and passion sell!

If that weren’t the case, instead of a Rolex we would be happy with the flimsy plastic watch we receive as a free gift with a magazine subscription.

Watch out for this when you are investing!

Stop Sucking With Your Money

As many of you know, I used to suck pretty bad with my money.

As an accounting nerd, I spent a lot of time handling other people’s money but never bothered to handle my own.

On top of that, I didn’t know what the heck to do with my money anyway. My accounting degree gave me the know-how to balance a publicly traded company’s tax return but NOT how to balance my own checkbook or manage debt.

How To Support Main Street & Save Money

We’ve all heard that if we want to help change our broken financial system we need to support Main Street, NOT Wall Street.

They say we need to put our money where our mouth is by buying our goods & services from the local businesses that are the nuts and bolts of our American economy.

But what about that age old issue I have every time I step into a Home Depot rather than my local hardware store? The cold hard reality is that buying from big companies is often cheaper than buying from small businesses.

That’s why I go … Read More
